TORONTO, CANADA, May 10, 2019—Opalux, Inc. (“Opalux”) is pleased to announce that Allan Firhøj has been named as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Opalux is a global leader in optically variable devices used to authenticate high-value documents such as passports and banknotes.

Allan has more that 15 years of senior management experience leading companies in the areas of photonic and other technologies, with a successful track record of product commercialization and M&A activities. “Allan is the right leader for Opalux,” said Paul Chan, Opalux’s Chairman of the Board. “Allan’s extensive business development track record, customer intimacy focus, strategic thinking, and team building skills, coupled with his experience scaling small to medium sized companies is exactly what Opalux needs to accelerate its transformation. His skills will help Opalux strengthen channel partnerships, develop strategic alliances in existing and new markets and expand our international sales presence.”

As business unit leader of EXFO Toronto, Canada (formerly EFOS), Allan led the company through a strategic merger and integration with EXFO Inc., a publicly traded telecommunication company. He then led the rapid transformation and restructuring of this unit into the highly profitable EXFO Life Sciences & Industrial Division, focused on the medical devices, life sciences, electronics, and digital print markets. Under his leadership, the company expanded into new markets and deepened its international presence, and substantially grew annual revenues and profitability.

Allan has led or been a part of 10 M&A transactions, and has previously held several positions including CEO, General Manager, and Director of Marketing and Business Development.

Allan received a BA degree from Bishop’s University, Quebec, and achieved the graduate program CEC designation in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia.
