Photonic Ink Technology
P-Ink combines the Photonic Crystal structure with electrically active polymer materials. When a voltage is applied to a P-Ink device, the active polymer increases or decreases in size, and this dimensional change will shift the color of light that are reflected from the material.
What it offers
- Full color reflection from single material for low materials and production cost and streamlined device construction
- High reflectivity, outstanding visibility in sunlight
- Low power consumption (Low voltage and current during switching; Negligible power draw to maintain static image)
- Heat management through controllable IR reflectivity
- Applicable on rigid or flexible substrates
- Lightweight, rugged, durable, and damage tolerant
- Highly scalable production process
Potential Market Applications
- Color Tunable Surfaces eg. Watches, mobile electronics, office partitions, vehicles,
- Small Displays eg. (Electronic tags) to Large (Roadside digital signage), Potential for full-color e-paper
- State-of-charge indicators
- Tunable heat reflection
- Active camouflage
